Indications for Use Urinary incontinence due to decreased urethral sphincter tone. General Information Not FDA approved for use in dogs and cats, but is a common and accepted practice to use phenylpropanolamine for urinary incontinence in dogs. Urinary incontinence is more common in larger breed female dogs who have been spayed. It can occur in unspayed females or in males also. Available by prescription and over the counter. Response to treatment should be seen in 4-7 days. Missed doses may cause the urine leakage to recur. Other medications are available if this one does not stop the incontinence. Consult your veterinarian. Count drops directly onto your dog's food. 1 drop per 2kg bodyweight, 3 times a day, or 3 drops per 4kg bodyweight, 2 times a day.
