I had a dog many years ago that had roundworms. Its gross. She vomited the worms up. They looked like spaghetti only they moved. Round worms are common in dogs especially puppies. And dogs can get them again too. So this Interceptor heartworm medicine is good stuff cause it keeps the worms away.
I had a friend who took in a stray dog. The dog was skinny and listless. She thought he was going to die. I told her he probably had worms cause its pretty common among dogs. I gave her some dewormer medicine. I had left over from my dog. And the next day or so the dog was better.
One of the signs of worms is eating all the time. However, it isn't always a sure sign of worms. So, you should get a dog or cat checked for worms before giving it worm medicine. For example,
I have a beagle named buddy. This dog has a sweet personality. He is overweight and on a diet. I got buddy at the pound about 3 years ago. He was sitting there all quiet and very sad. So I felt sorry for him and brought him home. He was underweight when i got him. The vet said he needed to gain about 5 pounds. He put that on easy the first month. Then he doubled his weight soon after. He should weigh about 30 lbs. but he is now 49 lbs. Buddy goes for a 15 minute walk everyday except for Saturday and Sunday. He is on diet dog food. The vet cut him down to one 1/2 cups a day. Yet he still hasn't lost much. Its a real battle. I had to put the trash can in the pantry where the door shuts instead of the cabinet under the sink. He was opening the cabinet and getting into the trash. But since i live with my son, grandchildren and daughter, the door isn't always shut completely. so, he still gets to raid the trash. The cat leaves alot of her food which for the last 2 years has been a major problem. My son feeds the cat and he has been over feeding her. The vet says that cat food is concentrated and is very high in calories. so I had to crack down on that. My son bought some holiday little debbie cakes. It was Christmas. He put them in a bowl on the table. There was about 14 cakes in the bowl. We went out for awhile. When we came back, they were gone. Wrappers and all. Buddy ate them all. So, now we dont leave any food on the table at all. I went to make a sandwich one day and could not find the bread. Buddy had jumped up and grabbed the bread off the countertop and ate the whole loaf. He loses a pound then he'll do something like that. the other day, my son was not thinking left a whole bag of candy on the chair. Buddy got into it and ate all of it. Now chocolate is suppose to be poison to dogs. but Buddy did not get sick. Well enough with the food problem, cause i can go on and on because it is non- stop battle.
But the dog does not have worms. He's been check time and time again at the vet.
