I own a Oreck Vacuum cleaner. It is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever own. I bought the Oreck Vacuum because of the light weight. It only weighs 8 pounds. It also out performs any Vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. I can carry it up and down the stairs with ease. That is the main reason I bought the Oreck.
My elderly parents were very impressed and bought a used one soon after I bought mine. The belt is easy to change too. A lot easier than the Hoover Windtunnel which I previously own. The windtunnel vacuum is still a good machine but its heavy.
There is an Oreck especially made to get up pet hair. Its a lot more expensive though. I have a long haired dog that sheds all over no matter how often I brush him. Dog hair wads up on the rug. The Oreck I have isn't the pet hair vacuum but it does pretty good provided I pull the dog hair off the brush after every use.
I also use the Oreck air cleaner which traps floating hair that's in the air.
I needed a new rug shampooer so I went to the Oreck store in town. I bought a renovated model on sale. I was impressed with the amount of dirt it got out of the rug. The water was black as compared to the brown color of previously cleaning. However, it did not extract the water good enough for me and at the time I was short on cash so I returned the shampooer to the store the next day.
A month later, I decided to go and get another rug shampooer and opted for a Hoover. It doesn't compare with the Oreck but it was more affordable. Since my rug is 16 years old, the stains are hard to come out for any cleaner. But, the Hoover cleans it good enough for me right now. However, if I had had the money for a Oreck at the time, I would have bought it.
